AMERICAN WITH DISABILITIES ACCOMMODATION STATEMENT

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires state and local government to take steps to ensure that their communications with people with disabilities are as effective as communications with others. The effective communication requirement applies to all members of the public with disabilities, including job applicants, program participants, and even people who simply contact state or local government agencies seeking information about programs, services, or activities.

AUXILIARY AIDS AND SERVICES REQUEST
ADA requires government entities to make appropriate auxiliary aids and services available to ensure effective communication when a person with a disability requests it at no cost to the person making the request. Auxiliary aids and services are devices or services that enable effective communication for people with disabilities. DENIAL OF REQUEST
The HCRMA is required to provide effective communications with people with disabilities except where it can show that providing effective communication would fundamentally alter the nature of the service or program in question or would result in an undue financial and administrative burden.

The decision to deny a request will be made only after consideration of the funding available in the current operating budget. If a request is denied because it results in an undue financial and administrative burden to the HCRMA, the HCRMA will take another action that will not result in an undue financial and administrative burden and would ensure that the individual with a disability receives the benefits or services provided.
